How to prepare your session for mixing

You’ve finally finished your record and you’re ready to get it mixed. That is where I can help you, the first step, however, is preparing your session as it will help me to get started on your mixing project as fast as possible. This won’t be an exhaustive guide but will take you through the basics of how to prepare a session for mixing.

Clean up your session

The first step is to go through your session and remove any audio files you’re not using. This helps me to focus on your song and means that I won’t spend time working on the wrong audio. An additional step is to remove any tracks, midi, samples or plugins that aren’t being used or are needed for the mix-down.
